ENIM's Textile Engineering Department (DGT) is the unique department in Tunisia in its specialty. Created in 1992 following a strong need expressed by socio-economic players in the sector at the time, notably CETTEX and FENATEX.
Textile Engineering is the specialty that affects all other disciplines, namely: chemistry, materials science, mechanics, medicine ... And this, to give birth to flexible fibrous materials. Apart from the fact that it is used in clothing, textiles also enter into the protection of individuals and the environment, in furnishings to give rise to technical textiles such as geotextiles, textiles for industrial use, intelligent textiles, textiles. medical...
* Since 1996, ENIM has delivered 1,500 Diplomas in Textile Engineering over 26 years until 2021. (Research unit: Materials and Textile Processes called MPTex)
Accreditation of the study program
The DGT study program is EUR-ACE accredited over 6 years by European organizations, namely the Commission for Engineers' Titles, which has made it easier for us to open up to the international market.
International cooperation with the Textile engineering department
Our department cooperates with a multitude of higher education institutions within the framework of several types of exchange mechanisms such as:
- * Double Degree with ENSAIT Roubaix France (GEMTEX research laboratory)
- * Double Degree with ENSISA Mulhouse France (LPMT research laboratory)

Key indicators of the Tunisian Textile & Clothing sector
* The textile sector contains around 1,494 companies, 80% of which are totally exporters. The DGT constantly cooperates with its industrial environment and notably with the Tunisian Federation of Textile and Clothing FTTH to adapt to the needs of industrialists.
* Our sector supports more than 140,000 employees, or 30% of jobs in the manufacturing industry.
* 2.3 billion Euros of exports in 2019 from the textile industry alone, i.e. 21% of exports from manufacturing industries.
